Russia 2022

Russia

Date of Issue: 20th January 2022

one stamp (55.- RUB)

This stamp is issued in a sheet of 12 stamps

In Russia, mythology is closely and inextricably linked to pagan culture; it is filled with tales of gods, rituals, and customs. Over the course of history, people had been inventing various mystical creatures to explain the unknown world around them. As time went on, many of the characters took root and became part of the culture of the peoples; they safeguarded, helped to gather a rich crop, to bring prosperity, recover from diseases and donated happiness.

Many of them are described in the narratives of Russian writers. For example, in poem Ruslan and Lyudmila by Aleksander Pushkin we read a passage about a sacred place Lukomorye and fairy tale personages living there: a learned cat, a mermaid, Kashchey, Baba-Yaga, and a warlock.

The postage stamp provides images of fairy tale personages from poem Ruslan and Lyudmila by Aleksander Pushkin.

Russia - PeterPost non official Europa stamps 2016

Russia

I've recently made aware of stamps produced by the philatelic service company PeterStamps from St. Petersburg Russia.

They produce their own stamps under the name « PeterPost ». Those stamps are quite similar to Russian stamps and depicts russian subjects. The head of the former Tsar, Peter the Great is always depicted on the stamps.

It seems that those stamps can be legaly used on postage sent from Russia.

In August 2016 they issued a set of 4 stamps using the theme « Europe – Think green » !

But Those stamps doesn’t use the official Europa logo nor the word “Europa”, but they use the word “Europe” and a very similar design to the common design select by PostEurop for their 2016 Europa stamps.

Those stamps aren’t official Europa stamps and it’s not clear if those stamps can really be used on postage...

If you know more, I would be happy to get some information concerning those « stamps » !
